Treasure Hunting

Another weekend exploring our new surroundings, this time with a twist--- we try geocaching, but without a GPS receiver... instead we take notes on the coordinates on google earth and do our best. Here's a few of the best sights we saw on our trek through the city today:

We got a little too close to the native wildlife for my taste.
The first time we walked past this snake, named George, it did nothing. The second time Sam spoke to it and the snake rose from his hole and up to look at Sam.
It sort of freaked us out.
Sam also took this picture of a Springhill Crane-- it's a real life crane in action. We were struck by how gracefully the crane moved--Sam caught it on video, but I get motion sick so you'll have to imagine with this still photo.

We did find a cache, and it was a fun find: the kids gasped when we opened it up. Geocaching has been called a game, a sport, and a hobby; we call it family fun.
