Mother's Day

A huge share of the holidays have some connection to church life, and as such make it sort of hard to have some traditions that we'd like to observe on-the-day.  As a result, Mike and the kids woke me up Saturday with eggs, turkey bacon, and coffee- Yum!

But it got better - after cards and gifts (yay!!) we packed a picnic and boated to a hiking spot.  A couple hours later we headed home for a small nap, and headed out to a mexican dinner with friends.  Fun times!

Today Katarina told us about a dance competition at school.  She mentioned that her competitor won. This particular competitor is as tall as most adults - we didn't talk about it, but Sam obviously remembered her height because he muttered, "The tall ones always get the most respect."

Shocked, I asked him what brought about that comment.  "Well it's true," he said.

"But why do you think that?"

His smile tilted to the left - his trademark mischievous smile - "Hammie MacPherson told me."

Studies have shown that Sam is right.
