Before I Forget

I SHOULD be getting frantically ready for the day. It's the first morning all week I've woken up feeling like I can get up and go without threat of my intestines retaliating, but instead dear blog, I'm writing you for fear I forget precious moments.
During Christmas holiday so far, the kids have been at each other, until, that is two days ago when I begged Mike to take the family for a walk while I got some shut-eye. They ran and ran and played and played and returned loving each other. I worked yesterday afternoon and Mike repeated the routine. If they get out that excess energy they love each other. I must remember this!
They are still brutally real with each other though - like typical brothers and sisters.

Anabelle is constantly writing and reading with her newfound school knowledge. She loves to draw pictures with captions. This morning she drew herself on a cold winter day and labeled it thus, then flipped over the paper and drew herself on a hot summer day, but spelled it, "Sammre."

Sam walked by and giggled, "haha you spelled Summer so funny. Haha!"

Anabelle didn't have her typical pout, run to her room, my feelings are hurt episode. Instead, she sighed, rolled her eyes. Stood up, paper in hand, and followed him to the living room.

"Now listen," she said, one hand on her hip, the other shaking the paper at him, "I am in KIN-DER-GARTEN! Kindergartners are NOT the best spellers in the world. WE are just learning how to spell and we do that by SOUNDING out letters. So knock it off or help me!"

Then she stomped back to the kitchen table.

I ran to my room laughing, and then couldn't believe my ears when I heard Sam approach Anabelle quietly to the table. "So what do you want me to help you spell?"

Hee hee.
