A Screaming Morning

Anabelle was the first child awake today. I softly told her she might want to look out the window. She ran into my room, flung open the curtains and gasped. Her brilliant eyes twinkling, she looked at me. "I've GOT to go warn Dad!"
A happy scream escaped her lips like a siren as she ran through the entire house and found Dad in the living room.
I must admit the sight of fresh falling snow is powerful. I'm suddenly smelling phantom cookies baking, and I crave warm blankets and a good book.
Anabelle's scream woke up her siblings who are now bouncing with joy.
Winter is here.
